Laura Linney, best known for portraying strong, but vulnerable characters, is one of the most well-known American actors of our times. Her mother was a single, unmarried mother who worked as a nurse. She became interested in the theatre during time spent in the summer with her famous father. She was a student of acting at Brown University, and later at Juilliard School. Her career began on Broadway shortly after her graduation, she made her debut in films within two years and on television in the year after. Innumerable appearances in films, and television and stage productions since then. She's been nominated for three Oscar Awards, five Tony Awards, and four Primetime Emmy Awards (including two Golden Globe Awards), and has won numerous awards throughout her professional career. In spite of the array of awards acting has been her passion first and foremost. She continues to perform both in stage and screen.
