Anna Leigh Ashford

Annaleigh Amanda Ashford, an American actress and singer. Her early Broadway parts included Wicked Legally Blonde & Hair. In her performance as Essie as Essie in You Can't Take It With You she won the Tony Award. Annaleigh Ashford, a Tony Award-winning actor and director has spent most of her professional career working alongside prominent directors and actors on screen and in television. Ashford will be next seen alongside Kumail Nannjiani on Robert Siegel's Hulu Limited series Welcome to Chippendales premiering November 22. Ashford's current film will be Searchlight Pictures horror thriller Dust and he will be starring with Sarah Paulson and Ebonmoss-Bachrach. In the form of it is a Hulu Original, the film is available on Disney Digital Television's channels. Ashford will be seen opposite Josh Groban on Broadway's Lunt-Fontanne Theatre during the march 2023 revival of Stephen Sondheims Sweeney Todd. The team behind Hamilton producers Jeffrey Seller and director Thomas Kail will be at leading the show. Ashford played Paula Jones, the main actor in Ryan Murphy's upcoming FX series American Crime Story Impeachment. It is based upon the impeachment crisis that swept Paula Jones Monica Lewinsky Linda Tripp as well as other main characters in the first impeachment proceeding in America in over a century. Her two seasons on CBS show B Positive was her first significant role. Created by Marco Pennette and Chuck Lorre the show also starred famous performers Linda Lavin Hector Elizondo and Ben Vereen.No stranger to Broadway Ashford was awarded the Tony Drama Desk and Outer Critics Circle Awards for her portrayal of Essie in You Can't Take It with You. Sunday in the Park with George Wicked legally blonde and the original role of Lauren of Kinky Boots were among her other Broadway credits. Ashford is a native of Denver. She was born and raised in Denver is now based in Los Angeles and New York.
